2003-obituary Smyth County News & Magazine-Marion, VA-Friday, November 7, 2003-Barr-Lena O. Barr, 89, of Green Cove, died Monday, November 3, 2003, at Johnston Memorial Hospital in Abingdon. She was a native of Johnson County, Tenn., and had lived in Green Cove for the past 32 years. She was the daughter of the late Charles D. and Eddie Leona Proffit Farmer and was preceded in death by her husband, William Ray Barr. She was a member of the Green Cove Community Senior Citizens Center and the Green Cove Christian Church. She is survived by two sons and daughters-in-law, William F. and Janine Barr of Green Cove and James Warren and Kay Barr of Stafford; one daughter, Joanne Osborne of Abingdon; seven grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews. Funeral services were conducted Thursday, November 6, 2003, at the Green Cove Christian Church in Green Cove with Harley Farmer officiating. Interment followed the services in the Green Cove Baptist Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial donations may be sent to the Green Cove Christian Church c/o Harley Farmer, 37586 Chestnut Mountain Road, Damascus, Va. 24236. The family received friends Wednesday evening at the Green Cove Christian Church. Condolences may be sent to the family through the web site www.garrettfuneralhome.com. Garrett Funeral Home in Damascus was in charge of arrangements.
