"The Missoulian", Thursday morning, January 3, 1957: "Car Slips Off Jack, Killing Man in 14th Street Garage"

"Leland C. Felix, 57, 1924 S. 14th St., was killed Wednesday afternoon when his car fell on him in his garage, where he was doing repair work.
"Coroner Ralph M. Simmons said that apparently Felix had been fixing the springs on the auto when the jack slipped, dropping the car and crushing him under the axle.
"The accident happened while Mrs. Felix was away from home and she discovered it when she entered the garage about 6 p.m. to see why her husband had not come in for dinner. The coroner said he believed the accident happened at least an hour earlier, and that the victim had been dead that long.
"Mrs. Felix called other relatives and neighbors including Reuben Redman, and they called the authorities. Simmons was accompanied on the scene by Highway Patrolman Tom Neely and Police officer Floyd P. Campbell. The blocks and jacks under the car were placed there while the victim was being removed.
"Felix, a cement finisher, came from Great Falls about eight years ago. Survivors include the widow and a son, Leland, at the family home, a married stepson and two married stepdaughters. The body is at Lucy's mortuary. It was the first fatal accident of 1957 in Missoula county."
