Death records for Leroy have him as the son of a Duff Pulley and Lizzie Brown. Possibly the brother, or half brother, of Walter Duff Pulley (b. 1875). Possibly related to the family of Jesse Pully of Cape Girardeau, Missouri. Also, possibly the "Lee Pully" listed in the 1900 Census lodging with the family of Govenor and Annie Hudson in Gibson County, Tennessee.

"Lee Roy Pully" is recorded as marrying Fannie Cornatzar, 25 June 1906, Crockett County, Tennessee (see attached image). "Leeroy" and Fanny Pulley are listed as living in Gibson County, Tennessee in the 1910 Census with children Fanny Lee, Addie Lou, and Fanny's sister Tennie Cornatzer. Both of Leeroy's parents are listed as being born in Tennessee.

And then what happened to Leroy Pulley? Did he die prior to the 1920 Census, when Ella Pully was listed as head of household? If so, when? And where was he buried? Or did Leroy and Fanny simply part ways sometime prior to 1920? The researcher has been unable to find any record of divorce for the pair, however, evidence suggests that's probably what happened.

Leroy Pulley appears on the scene a few years later in Dyer County, Tennessee; the county immediately to the west of Gibson. This Leroy Pulley, according to the Social Security Administration, was born 28 March 1880 (SSN: 415-82-9902) and consistently lists his birthplace as Missouri. He was married to Clara M. Hollis Green, 25 June 1918, in Dyer County. As a side note, Clara appears to have still been married to her previous husband, James William Green (1886-1957), at the time of her marriage to Leroy. A few months later, on Leroy's WWI Draft Registration card, he lists his residence as Bogota, Dyer County, Tennessee, his nearest relation as Clara Pulley (see attached image), and employer as Jack Hollis (probably Wesley Jackson Hollis, her father).

Leroy is then recorded as having married a Sally B. Hawkins (Sally Braden Dixon), the widow of John Harold Hawkins, 29 March 1928 (see attached image). Sally, along with her husband and several children, had relocated from Decatur County to Dyer County shortly before her husband's death in 1918. Leroy and Sally are listed in the 1930 Census and 1940 Census, living alone in rural Dyer County. Sally died 28 January 1949 in Finley, Dyer County, Tennessee, and was buried with her first husband.

Leroy lived another twenty years, dying in Memphis, Tennessee, 15 August 1968.
