Excerpt from Powell family history book, "They lived for a short timeafter marriage on her father's farm and he worked at his trade. WhenLincoln called for troops in 1861 he enlisted for three years in Co K43rd Regt O.V.I. He re-enlisted and continued in the service until theclose of the war. After his discharge he lived some time in the oldneighborhood, then moved to Alliance, where they lived several years.From thence they moved to Sterling, MI and later to a farm near Augress,MI, where he died. The widow continues to live on the old farm."
