Lawrence E. Guy, 69, retired Carrollton waterworks superintendent, died Friday morning in Mercy Hospital after suffering a heart attack April 5. Born in Dellroy, Mr. Guy was waterworks superintendent here 20 years, retiring in 1950. He was deputy master of District 23 of the Odd Fellows and past noble grand of Tripp Lodge of the Odd Fellows here. He was a member of Masons, Washington Hall Grange and Methodist Church.
Surviving are his widow, Mrs. Nettie Guy; a daughter, Mrs. Ruth Wickersham of Dania, Florida; a brother, John of Salem; a sister, Mrs. Orin Easterday of Dellroy; a stepson, Roy Wiant of New York, New York; two grandchildren; a great-grandchild. and two step-grandchildren. Services were Monday at the Sweeney Funeral Home here with the Revs. Gerstle Haggard and E. D. Lupton officiating. Burial was in Westview Cemetery. Odd Fellow Lodge services were Sunday at the funeral home.
(NOTE--there is a stone in Grandview Cemetery with his name on it, but he is not buried there. His name is on the same stone as his first wife, Lula.)
