Laurent was married three times. Two of the sons of his third marriage (Cosmos and Louis) went to America. Several of Laurent's grandsons also went to America.

The Keller family lived in Gambsheim, France. This is a tiny village located about 20 minutes north of the city of Strasbourg, France. A bell was cast in the village in the 1600’s with the first inhabitants’ names. Ulrich Keller is listed on that bell and he is probably an ancestor or uncle of the family. Birth certificates show that the family was cultivateurs or farmers for many generations.

After Cosmos and Louis came to America, several of their Keller cousins also came from Gambsheim to the St. Louis area. Most of them worked as butchers.
