Binghamton Press, 15 Sep 1926: PATROLMAN PERT IS PREPARING TO LEAVE JOHNSON CITY FORCE Johnson City, Sept. 15-- Patrolman Lawrence B. Pert, who has served in the capacity of motorcycle officer and patrolman here for about three years and a half and was deputy sheriff under former Sheriff Harry C. Scudder for about nine months, resigned today, effective at midnight Sept. 21. Pert said that he intends to leave police work for other lines of endeavor... Previous to coming to Johnson City in the spring of 1922 he was a member of the Panama Canal Zone constabulary, which he entered after leaving the United States Navy. Part of his naval service was in the naval aviation corps.
