CHETOPA - L. Marie Luman, 95, of Chetopa died at 5:45 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 30, 2006, at Chetopa Manor.

She was born April 8, 1911, in Carthage, Mo., to Robert B. and Mary E. (Wiley) Tullis. She moved with her family to rural Bartlett, where she grew up and attended schools.

She married Gilbert A. Luman on June 24, 1934, in rural Bartlett. They lived in several cities before moving to Chetopa in 1951. They owned and operated a hardware store in Chetopa for 12 years. He preceded her in death on April 5, 1994.

She enjoyed sewing, knitting and working in her flower garden.

She was a member of Assembly of God Church in Chetopa.

Survivors include two sons, Carrol Luman of Chetopa and Loren Luman of Ashland, Ore.; a daughter, Ruth Carter of Chetopa; 12 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; a great-great-grandchild; two brothers, R.A. Tullis and Verl Tullis, both of Bartlett; and two sisters, Bessie Carey of Chetopa and Leta Cunningham of Weir.

She was preceded in death by five brothers; a son; and three grandchildren.

The service was today at Bartlett United Methodist Church. Burial was in Oakhill Cemetery at Chetopa.

Bath-Forbes-Hoffman Funeral Home in Chetopa was in charge of arrangements.
