Obituary, Parsons Sun (Parsons, KS), May 28, 2005: Harvey O. Tullis VINITA, Okla. - Harvey Oscar "Hick" Tullis, 90, of Vinita died Thursday evening, May 26, 2005, at his home. He was born Oct. 30, 1914, in Bartlett to Robert Bruce and Mary Elizabeth (Wiley) Tullis. He served in Headquarters Company, 301st Signal Operation Battalion, United States 3rd Army, in Europe during World War II. He was discharged as a first sergeant with Company A, 28th Signal Heavy Construction. Following the war he returned to Labette County. He married Dorothy Ellen Winch on Dec. 21, 1941. She preceded him in death in 1991. They lived on a farm east of Bartlett for about four years. From 1955 to 1965 they lived in Dallas Center, Iowa, where he was a foreman at a hog operation on Brentor Farm. In 1965 they moved to Oklahoma, where he ran the Center Sport Shop and Service Station from 1965 to 1971. They also lived in Arizona from 1984 to 1987. He then moved back to Oklahoma. He enjoyed fishing. Survivors include three sisters, Marie Luman and Bessie Cary, both of Chetopa, and Leta Cunningham of Weir; and two brothers, R.A. Tullis and Verl Tullis, both of Bartlett. He was preceded in death by four brothers, Charles Tullis, Melvin Tullis, Larue Tullis and Marvin Tullis, who was killed in action during World War II. The service will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday at Luginbuel Funeral Home Chapel, Vinita.
