Obituary DEATH CLAIMS OLD RESIDENT OF GRAND HAVEN --Cornelius VanZanten, Well Known Citizen Passed Away This Morning Cornelius VanZanten, one of Grand Haven's oldest residents, died this morning at about two o'clock at the home of his daughter, Mrs. Jacob Dykema, 914 Fulton street. Mr. VanZanten was born in the Netherlands, January 27, 1838, and arrived in America in September, 1864. For many years he was a commercial fisherman although he retired from active business several years ago. He was married May 5, 1864 to Freeka Wierenga, who died July 26, 1902. In 1905 he was again married to Cornelia Veltkamp, who passed away in October, 1914. Mr. VanZanten is survived by his eight daughters as follows: Mrs. John Laug, Coopersville; Mrs. B.K. Kuiper, Mrs. A.W. DeJong, Grand Rapids; Mrs. Jacob Dykema, Mrs. B.VandenBosch, Mrs. E.P. Kinkma, Mrs. John J. Bolt of Grand Haven; Mrs. Wm. Gruys, Gretna, Fla., Twenty-seven grand children and two great-grandchildren also survive him. Funeral arrangements will be announced later.
