Where did she get her teacher's education? Did St. Mary's Institue (University of Dayton) have a normal school circa 1892-1896? If so, was it for men only? What other normal schools were in the area? She was Catholic. Would there have been a Catholic normal school? City directory of 1895 shows a public normal school in Dayton. See image of directory. That is one possibility. Some other possible higher education institutes in the area: Antioch, Cedarville, Central State, Wilberforce, Rio Grande, Wittenberg, Xavier, National Normal College (became part of Wilmington College), Urbana College, Western College for Women (became part of Miami University). Some of these possibilities can probably be eliminated because of her sex (F), religion (Catholic), or color (white, Irish American).
