WHITING, Abagail 25 Aug 1832 Age 73y 8m 6d; wife of William Whiting [nee Flower];

       "Farewell, dear partner of my breast. To call
       thee home God thought best. Fight on, you
       will gain the happy shore, Where parting hands
       are known no more."

WHITING, William 22 Mar 1849 Age 90y; Soldier of the Revolution

In a pension request, William Whiting stated he was living in a house owned by Silas C. Fargo "which in stormy weather does not protect our gray hairs from the wind and rain." Mr. Whiting appears to have been at or near destitution.

The Warsaw vital records show William as being a carpenter who died of old age.

From the Autobiography of Robert Fargo

About this time my brothers got the western fever. Wisconsin was the talk all around. Some had been to the new country west of Lake Michigan, and finally it was decided Brother Lyman should go out and see the great new West, so he made his way by rail to Buffalo and thence by boat to Milwaukee. Having a friend by the name of Perry at Lake Mills, he came out through the woods, crossed the Rock and Crawfish Rivers, struch the beautiful oak openings about Lake Mills, and was smitten with the lake and all the other new and attractive features.
