I believe she is listed in the 1870 census for Newark, Essex Co., New Jersey, as the daughter of John Becht 44, Hesse-Darmstadt; with Cathrine 40 Hesse-Darmstadt; and Friedrich 16; Charles 14; Maria M. 10; Catherine C. 8; George C. 4; and (Lusille C?) 3 mos. 

 Her parents and two oldest siblings are listed in Newark in 1860 as well.
 NOTE: I have not found this family in the 1880 census.  I believe her brothers Charles and Fredrick are found in Newark with families in 1900 on. Her father may be the Pvt. John Becht, 1826-1879, buried in Woodland Cemetery in Newark.
