Juanita Ione "Nita" Crumrine, 84 of Mount Vernon passed away Saturday, April 1, 2017.
She was born June 4, 1932 in St. John (Stafford County), Kansas to G H (Dode) and Pauline (Parker) Beitler. While a child, her family moved to California, and Nita had fond memories of living in Huntington Beach.
In her teen years the family moved to Concrete, later settling in Sedro-Woolley. Nita graduated from Sedro-Woolley High School in 1950 and in November of that year she married classmate, Dale Crumrine. She and Dale enjoyed the outdoors, hunting and fishing, and later in their retirement years, travelling in their motorhome. Before retiring they both worked in southeastern Alaska; Dale built forest service roads while Nita worked cleaning bunk houses and cooking in the kitchen. They enjoyed 58 years together prior to Dale's passing.
Nita worked as a beautician, spending time at the Moderne Salon on the West Side of Mount Vernon, then as a partner with Toni Leigh at the Tip Top Beauty Shop.
In the early 1970's she ran the Carousal Beauty Salon out of her home on Blodgett Road until she retired in the late 1980's. She was a member of First Baptist Church, Mount Vernon for 39 years, and for the past 8 years she has attended Christ the King Church, Mount Vernon.
After her retirement she discovered a talent for painting. The walls of her home are a gallery of her many paintings.
Nita is survived by her three children, Mike Crumrine, Randy Crumrine and Bonnie Loomis; three grandchildren, Madeline Lynch Crumrine, Christopher Loomis and Kimberly Loomis; one great-granddaughter, Sasha Andal; two brothers, Harold (and Bonna) Beitler and John (and Eileen) Beitler; as well as nieces, nephews and other relatives.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Dale in 2008; and son in law, Michael Loomis also in 2008.
