Griffin wrote his cousins Jane Love, Zillman Jones, and Lillice Jones: "now to the Bois out in fountain County indiania to / Isaiah my Brother lives on Isaiah Risers plase one and a half miles from New towne and so does surie [Squire] / he lives there with him / i got a letter from them in March and they are all well) / And Brother Josiah lives at hills Buro on the J.B.W. Raylroad / it is 10 miles south of New town wher he lives / tell Zillman they have got a (?)narow of age [gauge] railroad runig threw Newton in to Paris illinois and to lebanon indiania) / Well the old place that father lived on is all most gon to rock / the man that Bought it is dead and so is his Wife and only a ther little Boy lives to inherit it at his age and he is oly a 9 years old / Jackson point has a lees [lease] on it for 5 years / Cash rent $2.50 dollars per yer for 5 years"
