Much of the information about Elias' parents and siblings presented here is circumstantial and should be considered very tentative pending further research. Joshim Moses lived in a neighbouring township and was, if not Elias' father, almost certainly a close relation. While Joshim is curiously absent from the 1870 Census, he is listed in the 1880 as living with a wife, Susan, some twenty eight years his junior. Isaac, Joshua, Elijah and James are of about the right age to have been Elias' siblings and/or Joshim's sons, but the relation should be considered tentative.
