He and Sarah J ane Cleveland were married in Nacogdoche s. Annie Laura Mitchell went with he r aunt, Sarah Jane Cle veland, to Nacogdoches, Texas, when Sarah Jane married Jo e Turner. [ Why did they go to Nacogdoches? Apparently neit her of them l ived there.] The older kids were born at Gary in Panola County. Joe Turn er w orked at the Ragly Saw Mill in 1911 when Elsie, the old est child was born. Ma ry and Minnie were born near Hemphil l where Joe worked at a different saw mil l. He got to wher e he physically could not do the work and the long days a t the mill and they moved to Angelina county near Ora and h e became a farmer. They lived in Uncle Johnce Cleveland' s house at first, then moved to Boynto n community, which wa s really just a railroad switch. He was a farmer during World War I. Joe Turner died after a heart attack in a bank in downtow n Hen derson, Rusk Co, TX. Included in an inventory of items belonging to Albert Tur ne r and given to Allan Turner by their brother Alvin after Al bert's funeral is a book titled "Precious Memories", whit e leatherette with faded gold trim and lettering -- fro m A.
