Facts and Events
Bunker's Long Island Genealogies, pg 105 says Joseph was born 1695, but that appears to be his date of marriage. R. G. Clarke, quoting the NYG&BS Record Jul 1962, pg 162 says he was born 1667. The Thorn site names 6 children; Mr. R. G. Clarke's records state that Joseph & Martha had 7 children and quotes as his source "The Record" Jul 1962, pg 162 (NYGBS) Info about the Will of Joseph Thorn below is copied from the Thorn website, http://thorn.pair.com/thorn/thornlineage/JosephThorne.htm: "The will of Joseph Thorn of Flushing, yeoman, executed January 3, 1753, remembers sons John, James, Samuel, and Thomas; grandson Samuel Thorne 'who did live with me'; grandchildren Thomas and Mary, children of son Joseph, deceased; and Edward, William, Joseph, and Catharine, children of son William, deceased. His wife had already died. Son James, who inherited the home place, was directed to distribute 200 [pounds sterling] to the other sons then living, and the children of the two who had died (WNYHS:4:444 cf. NY Co. Wills: 18:341). References
