Joseph Allen Smith, the son of John L. and Mary A. Smith was born on My 7, 1765 on board a ship coming to the United States from Scotland. He married Elizabeth Black in 1793. They had nine children. James has a grave marked with just his initials JS. The grave is also marked "Under a cedar tree"
