    Elizabeth was the daughter of James and Nancy Jane Vance Black. She married Joseph Allen Smith on Dec, 19 1793 near Farmville, Prince Edward Co. Virginia. Her small tombstone is marked only with her initials ES in Pleasant Grove Cemetery. Elizabeth and Joseph had nine children. She is buried beside her husband Joseph Smith. The graves are also marked as "Under a cedar tree".
