Joseph H. Picray

Joseph H. Picray, 47, died suddenly at 11:30 am Saturday at his home, 1323 Mississippi boulevard, Bettendorf.

Mr. Picray was born July 29, 1899, in Holy Cross, Ia., and was married to Isadore M. McCarthy on Nov. 28, 1939, in Otter Creek, Ia. He was a member of the Holy Name society of Our Lady of Lourdes church, Bettendorf.

Surviving are the widow; a daughter, Monica Jane, at home; two sisters, Mrs. George Sarver, St. Joseph, Mich., and Mrs. Leo Martin, Dubuque.

The body will be taken from the Halligan funeral home to the home at 1323 Mississippi boulevard, Bettendorf, at noon today and funeral services will be held there at 9 am Monday, followed by a requiem mass at Our Lady of Lourdes church at 9:30 am.

The body will then be taken to the home of Ted Hintgen [sic] in Otter Creek, Ia., and a second requiem mass will be celebrated at St. Lawrence church, Otter Creek, at 9:30 am Wednesday. Burial will be in the St. Lawrence cemetery.

The Picray Funeral

Funeral services for Joseph H. Picray, 1323 Mississippi boulevard, Bettendorf, who died Saturday, were held at 9:30 am Wednesday in St. Lawrence's church, Otter Creek, Ia.

The Rev. E.W. Loosebrook celebrated requiem high mass, pronounced the burial absolution, preached the sermon and officiated at committal services at St. Lawrence's cemetery.

Bearers were Al Herrig, Clayton McDonald, Joseph Marshall, James Hayes, Chris Anglin and Frank Wieland.

Before the body was taken to Otter Creek, funeral services were held at Our Lady of Lourdes church, Bettendorf, with the Rev. T.P. Coleman celebrating requiem high mass.

Bearers for the Bettendorf services were James Rasmussen, Glen Organ, Carl Ertl, Clarence Mohs, Frank McCarthy and Joseph Michl.

Joseph H. Picray, 47, a native of former resident of Dubuque county, died suddenly at 11:30 Saturday morning in his home in Bettendorf, Ia.

Born in Holy Cross, Dubuque county, July 29, 1899, he was married to Isadora McCarthy, Otter Creek, Nov. 28, 1929. He had lived in Bettendorf three years.

The body will be taken to the Ted Hintgen residence, Otter Creek, Monday and funeral services will be held at St. Lawrence's church, Otter Creek, at 9:30 Wednesday morning, with burial in St. Lawrence's cemetery.

Survivors are his wife; one daughter, Monica Jane, at home, and two sisters, Mrs. Leo Martin, 425 Bluff street, Dubuque, and Mrs. George Sarver, St. Joseph, Mich.
