Case 44541 Osgood, Joseph Lancaster 1756.

Will of "Joseph Osgood of ye Town of Lancaster ... Yeoman", dated 10 Feb 1756, proved 26 Oct 1756, names wife Margaret; daughter Phebe Fowle; daughter Jereusha Osgood; son in Law Jacob Fowle; granddaughter Mary Stevens; granddaughter Sarah Divol of Lunenburgh; grandsons John Divol, Phinehas Divol, Joseph Divol and Levi Divol. Cousin Deacon Hooker Osgood to be executor.

  4. The secondary sources covering Joseph Osgood (e.g., Source:Osgood, Ira. Genealogy of the Descendants of John, Christopher and William Osgood, p. 18) don't seem to be aware of any second wife for Joseph after his first wife died in 1723, or even show that he moved to Lancaster. However, the birth of his son Joseph with wife Mary is recorded there in 1720/21, and his admission to the Lancaster Church in 1726 from the church in Andover. Also found there is his will, probated in 1756, which mentions (among others) his daughter Jerusha born in Andover with wife Mary. Thus, establishing him as the Joseph Osgood of Lancaster, then it is clear he is the one who married Katherine (Whitcomb) Wetherbee. His widow, named in his will, was named Margaret.
