    "Joseph Norton, seventh son of Peter and Sarah (Bassett) Norton, came to river-lot No. 30, east side, about 1791, but soon afterwards purchased the northern half of lot 31 adjoining. Upon this he resided until his death, which occurred May 20, 1819. He represented the town in the Massachusetts legislature as the colleague of Nathan Cutler in 1810. He md. Deborah Smith, who d. Mar. 1843."
