Facts and Events
The History of Farmington, Franklin County, Maine, describes Ebenezer's move to Farmington:S1 "Ebenezer Norton moved into the township in 1791, and settled on river-lot No. 32, east side, and a part of lot No.31 adjoining, the same now owned by Richard R. Norton and others. He possessed considerable means, and the year before his removal thither, employed his two eldest sons, Andrew and Elijah, to visit the township and secure a tract of land (which they purchased of Amos and Ezekial Page) upon which to erect suitable buildings for the reception of his family. In 1790 they built the large house now owned by Richard R. Norton, and the following year a barn near the interval. These were among the first framed buildings in the township. Mr. Norton was elected one of the selectmen in 1801, and represented the town in the Massachusetts legislature of 1804." References
