Came with his parents in the Increase in 1635. His uncle, James Morse of Barham, co. Suffolk, named “my cousin Joseph Morse” in his will dated 2 Sept 1638. He lived first at Watertown, then was among the first proprietors at Dedham with his brother Daniel in 1636. He was one of the proprietors of that area that became Medfield in 1651.

His father Samuel refers to him as deceased in his will of 2 Dec 1654. His wife remarried to Thomas Boyden, who refers to the estate of Joseph Morse in documents in 1661.

6g grandfather of Calvin Coolidge through son Nathaniel.
