Continuation of own deposition: Joseph married at the Mines to Anne BOURG, daughter of the notary; seven children listed. She died at Miquelon on 13 Jun 1766. !NAME: "Le Maigre" means "The Skinny One." !BIRTH-OCCUPATION-RESIDENCES-MARRIAGE-SON-DEATH: Stephen A. White, "LE BLANC," sent to Joan Foster in 1989. Joseph LE BLANC, born 12 Mar 1697 at Grand Pré, son of Antoine & Marie BOURGEOIS. He married on 13 Feb 1719 at Grand Pré to Anne BOURG, daughter of Alexandre [dit Belle-Humeur] & Marguerite MELANSON of Grand Pré; son Joseph born 1723 there. He was a farmer and trader, aided the French in campaigns, outlawed by the British. He fled to Ile Royal (now Cape Breton Island), at Port Toulouse (now St. Peter's) in 1749. After the fall of Louisbourg in 1758 he fled again to Miquelon; removed to Belle-Ile-en-Mer, France in 1766. He died at Kervaux there on 19 Oct 1772. !BIRTH-MARRIAGE-CHILDREN-RESIDENCES-DEATH: Arsenault, p.1223 (Grand Pré). Anne BOURG, daughter of Alexandre & Marguerite MELANCON, married 13 Feb 1719 to Joseph LEBLANC, son of Antoine & Marie BOURGEOIS. Recorded at St. Gabriel (SGA-2, 255). !RESIDENCES-OCCUPATION: Arsenault, History, p. 93. "Among the Acadian traders of the time was Joseph . . . of Grand Pré, who raised livestock on a large scale. One day he took 80 beefcattle and 150 sheep to Chibouctou (Halifax) to supply the expedition of the Duc d'Anville who, in 1746, undertook to take Acadia, in the name of France. The attempt ended in disaster and LeBlanc was never paid." !RESIDENCES: Note attached to Acads. of B-I-en-M by the Abbe stated that the Acadians at Belle-Isle-en-Mer "were transported by the English to other English colonies in October 1755. That from these colonies, they were transferred to England and dispersed in various places of the kingdom during the year 1756; that in 1763, after the Treaty of Peace, they were transported to France on the King's flatboats and placed in different seaports. In 1765 during the month of October they came to this Island by order of the Duke of Choiseul, Minister of the Navy." (See NOG.) References
