    JOHN F. KINCAID.
Mr. J. F. Kincaid is the son of Joseph and Rhoda (Baugh) Kincaid. He was born in Madison county, Kentucky, December 15, 1828. He moved with his parents to Missouri in 1830, and they settled on the very spot where he now lives. They had not completed their cabin when the big snow of 1830 fell, and they had a cold and rough introduction to the new country. Mr. John Kincaid was educated in the common schools of the county. He was married January 23, 1851, to Miss Mary Randol, who was born in Palmyra, July 1,1831, daughter of John and Elizabeth Randol. They have had fourteen children, nine of whom are now living: Joseph, aged 26; Susan, 23; Phebe, 21; William and John, twins, aged 19; Catherine, 17; Marion, 13, Belle, 11, and Robert, 8 Those dead are Martha, who died at the age of twenty; Rhoda, aged four; Daniel, hardly two years old, and two infants unnamed. Mr. Kincaid enlisted in the cause of the South during the civil war, in Capt. John L. Owen's company, in 1861, and was in the service about two years. He was captured in this county and imprisoned at Palmyra, St. Louis and Alton, for a period of nine months; was exchanged in 1862 at Vicksburg, Mississippi, and after awhile discharged at Horsehead Camp, Arkansas, on account of sickness. He was in the engagement at Monroe City; he was never wounded. Mr. Kincaid and wife are members of the M. E. Church South, and hold their membership at Andrew Chapel, in Marion county. He was township collector of school funds for two or three years. Votes the Democratic ticket. He is a successful farmer and stock raiser, and is turning his attention to the breeding of Poland-China hogs, of which he has some very fine specimens.
