"Horace was born in Morgan County on April 7, 1918. He is the son of LEROY GROTY JACKSON, 1873 - 1940 who is the son of Chesley Boatright Jackson, 1848 - 1915, a former sheriff of Morgan County who is a son of William R. Jackson, 1821 - 1886 who raised 14 children in Morgan County. They are all buried in Morgan County.

"Horace was a Corporal in the United States Army, serial number 34-493-963, a member of the 350th Infantry Regiment, 88th Infantry Division. He died March 18, 1944 and is buried at: Plot C, Row 11, Grave 34, Sicily-Rome American Cemetery in Nettuno, Italy. He was awarded the Purple Heart Medal.

"He was just short of his 26th birthday when he died. Apparently he never had time to get married."
