The 1766 will of John Stiles, Saint Mary's County, Maryland, includes Joseph Hopewell as a witness, As of 1790, he was living in Shenandoah County, Virginia; his household had a total of 8 white and 5 Black inhabitants. No further details available, as of 02 Oct 2016, although it is verified that he was married to Athalia Adams.
