Joseph Dick was the son of Archibald and Mary Knedler Dick (1814 - 1900). Joseph married Jane Dunn (1836 - 1925) on 1 January 1857. They were the parents of Mary, Nancy, and Franklin Ellsworth Dick (1867 - 1948). Joseph was a general contractor and brick mason.
