Son of William and Sarah Darke. Died as a result of wounds received fighting with his father in the Northwest Indian War in Ohio. He died enroute home. Tradition says he was buried enroute where he died, some time after November 9, 1791 when his father, then Lt. Colonel Darke, mentioned him in a letter to George Washington. This a likely a memorial rather than an internment site. He is also memorialized on a FAG memorial at Fort Recovery.

    Inscription:
Capt Joseph Darke 2nd Regt U.S.A. Indian War 1791

He was the middle of General Darke's three sons. A Darke family genealogy in Jefferson County Historical Society provided a DOB of 1768.
