"Joseph, a shoemaker, married Margaret McGRATH, daughter of Michael and Ma rgaret (Duffy) McGRATH. They lived in Brechin on part of South 1/2 of L OT 11, CON 4. Their son, William James, operated various enterprises in B rechin."

QUAY 3 "BRECHIN - The people of Brechin were sorry to hear of the death of an old resident, Mr. Joseph Barker, who died in Winnipeg on March 24, and was buried in St. Andrew's cemetery here on Saturday, March 29th. Messrs. Edward and John Barker, of Winnipeg, Mr. S. L. [sic (T. L.)] Barker, of Smithville, and Mrs. D. M. Smith, of Toronto, attended their father's funeral."
