JOSEPH ANNIS was born abt 1800 at New York; died March 24, 1876 at Newton, Wisconsin; married 1st, name unknown at Little Falls, New York, and had one child; married 2nd, circa 1843, Bathsheba Maria Ward at Fairhaven, Connecticut, and had six children; married 3rd, May 3, 1854 Sarah M. Chambers at Batavia, Illinois, and reportedly had two daughters. He did not claim these two children as his own and they may have been stepchildren. Joseph was a veteran of the War of 1812 and served with Hezekiah Barnes, Vermont Militia, and Hayden's Company, 15th U.S. Infantry. According to pension records he also lived at Herkimer County, New York and Columbia County, Wisconsin. There may have been other children.
