This census page could not be transcribed as it was too faint to be legible. But possibly here is our Joseph Abeene! I believe the Henderlit name will tie into later records. To double check as this 1960 record for Joseph gives an Illinois birth plance. So far, all the census records I've found for Joseph's children state that their father was born in New York - except the 1910 census for John B. J. Abeene (Benjamin) which says his father was born in France. Very possibly that is a clue as Joseph's heritage. I would not be surprised if most of the family spoke with an accent because I've found Joseph's wife, Samantha Amintha listed as Martha and the Abeene name spelled eight different ways.
