'He went to the Palatine secretly with his wife and his brother Hans Heinrich in 1673. ... In the 1654 census of Wädenswil he was listed with his wife and no children and his brothers Hans Heinrich and Ulrich were living with him on Zweierhof farm. ... In 1678 he was listed in the Wädenswil clerical survey (the Reformed minister mistakenly called his wife Cathri Zäshler of Zofingl, when she was the wife of his brother Ulrich). By 1682 Joseph was living in the Pfalz at Freihof. The minister noted that Joseph still had citizenship at Wädenswil and that he could keep it if he returns. In the 1689 clerical survey of Wädenswil the minister noted that Joseph had regretted that he left and gone to the Pfalz and so returned to Wädenswil. He did not have any children.'[1]
