Jordan Epperson of Benton, Arkansas, was ordained on July 14, 1872 at the United Baptist Church of Christ located in Spavinaw (part of Bentonville Baptist Assn. that also lists Big Springs Church as part of the Assn). The source for Ordination is located at the Benton County Courthouse, Book A, pages 304 and 305. In 1868, he is listed as a delegate to the 5th Annual Session of this Assn on behalf of Spavanau (spell error?) Baptist Church with J F Mitchell residing as the pastor (Pioneer Vol 16, no.2 Spring 1971). The Spavinaw community, per a local historian, no longer exists. However, per this volume of the Pioneer, "the early churches had difficulty keeping records of their own, but hardly without exception took offerings to see that annual Association Minutes were printed. These very early minutyes are the property of the First Baptist Church, Springdale, which celebrated a 1970 centennial beginning as Liberty Baptist Church with a Shiloh post office." He lived south of Bentonville on now what is called Cave Springs Road and purportedly was burined in Apple Orchard (no longer exists).
