After the Restoration, the Royalist Sir Jordan Crosland, now on the up again, showed Dugdale a long pedigree, probably on a scroll compiled by some pedigree-monger. The earlier generations should presumably be taken with a pinch of salt. Sir Robert Beaumont had the moated manor house at Crosland when he was murdered there about 1340. But this date is hard to reconcile with the generations in the pedigree either up or down. References
