John Crosland of Helmsley gave a short pedigree at Richard St. George's Visitation of 1612. But he seems to have gilded the lily somewhat. As reported by Foster's edition, he says his father John had a sister Grace who had married Leonard Calvert, and they were the parents of George Calvert, "clerk of the Counsell". But Grace was too young to be George's mother. She was Leonard Calvert's 2nd wife, and George's stepmother. He also reported that his father's mother was a Hawksworth, although he didn't know her name or her father's name (she was dead long before he was born). But it may be that the Hawksworth lady was in fact his grandfather's previous wife. References
