- This Indenture made this 27th day of Sept. in the Year of our Lord Christ one Thousand Seven Hundred and Seventy Nine between Jonathan Wood of Bedford County of one part and Robert Hardie of Amherst County of the other Part Withesseth that the said Jonathan Wood for and in Consideration of the Sum of One Thousand Two Hundred Pounds Current Money of Virginia to him and in hand paid before Sealing and Delivery of these presents the Receipt whereof he Doth hereby acknowledge and Confess himself fully satisfied and paid Hath Granted Bargained Sold enfeoffd [sic] and Confirmd. and by these Presents doth Grant Bargain sell infeoff and Confirm unto the said Robert Hardie his Heirs and Assigns forever one Certain Tract or parcel of Land Lying and being in the County of Bedford on Otter River and Bounded as followeth, Viz. [boundaries omitted, but it borders Thomas Woods Line]... Amounting to one Hundred & Fifty acres by the same more or less Together with all Woods ways Water and Water Courses Guardons Buildings Heredekments [sic] and Commodities thereunto Belonging or in anywise Appertaining unto the said Robert Hardie his Heirs and Assigns forever to have and to hold the above said Tracts of Land and Premises and every Part and Parcel thereof with all and every of their Appurtenances unto the said Robert Hardie his Heirs and Assigns forever To the only Proper use of him the said Robert Hardie his Heirs and Assigns and the said Jonathan Wood for himself and his Heirs Doth Covenant promise and Agree to and with the said Robert Hardie that he will from time to time and at anytime when required make and do Execute or Cause to be made done and Executed all and every such Act Deed or thing as may be Required for the further more fully Conveying the above Mentioned Tracts of Land and Premises. Witness whereof the said Jonathan Wood hath hereunto set his hand and Seal the day and Year first above written. {Signed] Jonathan Wood, Martha Wood.
- At a Court held for Bedford County the 27th day of September 1779. This Indenture was Acknowledged by Jonathan Wood party thereto and Ordered to be Recorded. Martha the Wife of said Jonathan Came into Court & having been first privily Examined according to Law Relinquished her Right of Dower in and to the Land and Premises Conveyed by this Indenture which is also Ordered to be Recorded.

- This Indenture made this eighth day of October in the year of our Lord MDCCLXXXIX [1789] between Frederick Mayberry Junr. of the County of Bedford of the one part and Jonathan Wood of the County of Botetourt of the other part witnesseth that the said Frederick Mayberry for and in consideration of the sum of Ten Pounds six shillings current money of Virginia doth give grant bargain sell deliver and confirm unto the said Jonathan Woods his heirs and assigns forever One Lot ~ containing half an acres in the Town called Liberty laid off in the said County of Bedford which said Lott is marked in the plan of the said Town XLII [42] to have and hold the said lot of land together with the priviledges and Appurtenances thereto belonging to the said Jonathan Wood his heirs and assigns forever and he the said Frederick Mayberry doth hereby for himself his Heirs & Warrant the said Lot of land to the said Jonathan Wood his Heirs and assigns against all persons or persons whatsoever. The said lot is however subject to the conditions of the other half acre lots in the same Town. - Will of Jonatan Wood
- Know all men by those presents that I Jonathan Wood of the County of Botetourt being in good health and of sound and disposing mind and memory do make this my last Will and Testament in form and manner following that is to say in the first place I direct that my estate both real and personal or so much thereof as shall be resofary {/} shall be sold and conveyed by my Executor herein after named for the purpose of discharging all the last debts which I may owe either on specialty of simple contract at the time of my death secondly I give and devise all the residue of my Estate real and personal unto John Wood the son of my Brother Jeremiah Wood his Heirs and assigns forever but in case the said John die before he attains the age of twenty one years or is lawfully married I give and devise the said residue of my Estate until the next eldest Son of my said Brother Jeremiah his Heirs and assigns forever. But if there be no such male child of my said Brother Jeremiah I give devise and bequeath all the said residue of my Estate to the Eldest Male Child of my Brother James his heir and assigns forever and in the coint [?] of his having no male children I give devise and Bequeath the said residue of my Estate unto the Eldest son of my Brother Josiah Wood his heirs and assigns forever.
- Lastly I nominate and appoint Christopher Clarke, Jeremiah Wood and Anarca [?} Donald all of Bedford County to be Executors of this my Last Will and Testament Witness my hand and seal the twenty seventh day of March One thousand Eight Hundred and two years.

- I Jonathan Wood have and by these presents do ratify and confirm the foregoing Will and Testament Excepting only the appointment of Jeremiah Wood as one of my Executors my Will and design being that Elisha Beals, Christopher Clarke and Andrew Donald shall be my Sole and only Executor of my foregoing Will and Testament and that this shall be taken as a Codicile thereto Witness my hand and seal this nineteenth day of January One Thousand Eight Hundred and three.

- This Instrument of writing purporting to be Last Will & Testament of Jonathan Wood and together with aforesaid there to announce was exhibited in Court and the said Will was pr and __ by the oath of Joseph Boyce & Michael Boyer Witnesses thereto & ordered to be Recorded. And on motion of Andrew Donald one of the Executors named in the Codicil aforesaid who first made oath and with security in ___ into & acknowledge Bond & according to Law Certificate is granted him for obtaining a probate thereof in due form
