About James Wood

James Wood was named in the will of his brother, Jonathan Wood in Botetourt County, Virginia, proven in 1804. Due to a transcription error of that will, some researchers claim that James Wood was located in Montgomery County, Virginia, but there was no reference in the will of Jonathan Wood that James was in Montgomery County. Although early Census records do not show a James Wood in Bedford County [old enough to have been this James Wood], there is an 1810 Census record in adjoining Amherst County, Virginia that appears likely to be this James Wood. Additional research is needed to prove.
