Jonathan C. Soden died at the home of David E. Jamison of Freehold last Wednesday of pleura pneumonia. He was 78 years old. Mr. Soden was the son of Jonathan Soden and was born near Tennent. He married Miss Maria Marlatt of Englishtown, who died about two years ago. Three children survive him. They are Mrs. Augustus Riley of Freehold and Mrs. Charles H. Boudreau of Newark. He also leaves two brothers, James R. Soden of Freehold and Gilbert Soden of Milhurst. On August 8th, 1862, Mr. Soden enlisted for three years in Company A. Fourteenth New Jersey Volunteers. Owing to sickness he was mustered out of service in 1864. He lived at Englishtown for a number of years and afterward moved to Freehold Source: Red Bank Register, Wednesday, November 30, 1898
