You are advised that it appears from the papers in the Revolutionary War pension claim W.25765 that Jonathan Knight was born February 18, 1760, in Cranston,Providence County,Rhode Island. While a resident of Cranston, Rhode Island, he enlisted and served as a private with the Rhode Island troops as follows: from March 1, 1776, nine months in Captain Job Olney's and Bull's Companies, in Colonel Lippett's and Robert Elliot's Regiments; from early in 1777, one month in Captain Edward Knight's Company, in Colonel Amos Atwell's Regiment, from March, 1777, one month in Captain Knight's Company, in Colonel Joseph Knight's Regiment; from August 1777, one month in Captain E. Knight's Company, in Colonel Joseph Knight's Regiment. From April 1, 1778, he served nine months on the frigate "Providence" which was commanded by Commodore Abraham Whipple. He was allowed pension on his application executed August 8, 1833, at which time he was living in Cranston,Rhode Island. He died February 15,1842, in Cranston,Rhode Island. He married January 18, 1784, in Scituate, Rhode Island, Elizabeth Fisk, who was born January 15, 1768. She was allowed pension on her application executed October 18,1843, while living in Cranston, Rhode Island. Jonathan and Elizabeth Knight had the following children.
