per DAR centennial edition; Pvt. from CT. Looks like where his spouse would have been listed there's an x. I've been unable to find much of anything about Jonathan. Wrote to National Archives in D.C. for military records showing place of death as Luzerne Co., PA and they searched for both John and Jonathan and found nothing. Maybe I should have asked them to look in CT. From what I can piece together, Jonathan Franklin was one of seven brothers who were killed in the Battle of Wyoming on July 3, 1778. I found guardianship papers from Woodbury, CT showing that Jehiel Franklin (who was a brother of Jonathan) was appointed guardian of Patience Franklin. I assume it was because her father had been killed and she was still a minor.
