Jonas Meador, Jr. was probably the second son of Jonas and Frances Meador, b. 1728-32, in Caroline County, Virginia
he married Mary Holloway, daughter of John and Hannah Holloway, sister of Jane (married John Meador) and James (married Frances Meador) Holloway
Jonas purchased land in Cumberland County from brother-in-law Peter Holland (married Mary Meador), beginning in 1749. Jonas and Mary had several land transactions in Cumberland County.
Jonas and Mary sold land in Cumberland County in 1768, immediately after death of his father
In July 1767, Jonas purchased land in Bedford County, VA, , then sold it to his brother John after the death of his father
Jonas returned to Cumberland County, acted as legal representative for his mother Francis.
Jonas died Oct 1773 (Cumberland Will Book, 11, pp. 526, 556), left a non-cupative will in which he attempted to leave land to his son John (Fox) Meador, but real estate could not be legally transferred by a non-cupative will. However, John apparently inherited based on law of primogeniture, as he sold 131 and 1/2 acres in Sept 1789
Jonas's estate was not settled until 1779, when the income was divided among his heirs.
