March 29, 1895-
JOHNSON STUTTING was born in Bloomfield Township, Clinton County, Iowa, June 22, 1854, and married Martha Helferich January 11, 1876. Six children have been born to them and four of them still live. Several years ago he met financial adversity and did not seem to be himself afterward. Lately things have been against him and his actions were very queer, though he was not really counted insane. Last Friday morning his two days old babe died and two hours later he was found dead hanging in his barn. It is sad when a man so far looses himself as to take his own life. Sunday at 2 o'clock the services were held at Union church by Rev. J.R.A. Hanner, of Delmar, and father and child were laid to rest by the church."
