Facts and Events
Name John H. Wright
Gender Male
Birth? 1808 Randolph Co., Virginia (now West Virginia)
Marriage 1830 to Evaline Fisher
Death? 3 Jan 1895 Calhoun Co, West Virginia

The family moved from Randolph to what is now Calhoun County WV. Eugene Wright of Ohio has the spinning wheel that Evaline carried over the mountains when the family moved to western Virginia.

In 1848, the Governor of Virginia awarded John Right a land grant of 100 acres on the waters of the Little Kanawha River. Although living in what is now Sherman District of Calhoun County, John was at that time a resident of Gilmer County. Calhoun County was formed from Gilmer in 1856. The land was about Route 5, on the hill, between Grantsville and Glenville. The Wright cemetery (near Hattie Road) is located there. In the 1880 Calhoun census (Sherman District), John was 68 and Evaline was 70 years old.
