Marriage to Margaret Dunbar

John, merchant, Port Glasgow, m. Margaret DUNBAR, and had a son James who settled in Surry County Virginia where he died 1787 (C: Beachy, rootsweb). The births from 1757 to 1766 of the children of John Willison (probably chr. 12jan1734) and Margaret Dunbar/Dunbarr were recorded on a paper found in the possession of Benjamin Barton (1747-1817) and copied by Andrew Farquhar Gray (customs comptroller, Irvine) and David Bell of Blackhall. The following may refer to John Willison's son John (b. 1754). From Genealogical and Heraldic Dictionary of landed gentry 1863: Alexander McGrigor of Kernock, b. 30nov1772, married Fanny, daughter of John Willison of Port Glasgow, lineally descended from the Andersons of Dowhill. Fanny died dec1837. Fanny was Frances, they married 1795.
