Per Old Families Of Salisbury And Amesbury settled first in Newbury, Mass, in 1640 was petioner to start the town. 1642 admitted as freeman of Haverhill/1667 received his share of town lands as one of the original proprieters.

John Williams moved from Newbury to Haverhill about 1643 and resided in Haverhill till his death, Feb. 10, 1673-4....In his will, dated Dec 9, 1670, proved 1673-4, he mentions his children John, Joseph, Mary and Lydia, and his daughter Sarah's child, Sarah Eyers. The births of Mary and Lydia were recorded at Newbury, Lydia and Joseph at Haverhill" Register 12:297
