Will of "John Wheeler, the elder, of Cranfield", dated 18 Jan 1642/43, proved 22 Jan 1643/44, mentions "John Wheeler the younger my eldest sonne", "Isaack Wheelar an other of my sonns", "Obadiah Wheeler my sonne", "Mary Barratt my daughter", "Elizabeth Halsie my daughter", "Sarah Nash my daughter", "Willyam Wheeler an other of my sonns", "Isabell Wheelar an other of my daughters", "Sarah Nash my Grandchild", "Obadiah Mouse my Grandchild", poor of Cranfield, "Elizabeth my Louinge Weife Whom I make & ordaine my sole executrix".

  3.   Note: "Captain Thomas Wheeler and Some of His Descendants" by Homer W. Brainard, in Source:American Genealogist (D.L. Jacobus), p. 12:4, a useful article overall, makes several mistakes in the children attributed to this John Wheeler, confusing him with John Wheeler of Doswell. As a result, Brainard quotes the will phrasing of "John Wheeler the younger my eldest son", but shows the eldest son John dying young, and the surviving John being younger than both Isaac and Obadiah, which is clearly wrong. This is clearly not John Wheeler of Doswell whose burial is recorded separately in 1645 and thus would not go with the will cited here. Instead of Brainard, the cited installments of the Coddington article, which is based on baptisms and wills, should be used for this family.
