His parentage is proved by a deed, dated May 18, 1719, by which Edmund Weld of Roxbury and Elizabeth his wife, "in consideration of their Parentall love and affection unto their dear and well beloved son John Weld now of Pomfrett," conveyed to him 196 acres of land in Pomfret... The will of John Weld of Pomfret, dated July 13, 1763, probated Dec. 6, 1763, names - wife Esther; son John Weld, Jr.; son Elias Weld; son Ezra Weld of Braintree; daughter Easther Grosvenor; daughter Elizabeth Child of Woodstock.
